The original version of the Hylander Portable Vocal Booth was received very well. Some voice actors actually made it a gift of choice for their friends and colleagues. I also received some questions: “Is it possible to mount it on a mic stand? ” Can the booth be suspended, like in a hotel situation? ” “Can I fit it in a suitcase? ” My original knee-jerk response was, “VOMO does all that! FAV is supposed to be a minimalistic version.” But if people wanted it – I had to deliver. So now we are presenting a new version of the Hylander Portable Vocal Booth – FAV-20. It does all that you asked and even more! So what can this booth do? It provides an excellent acoustic environment on the road. This is the main purpose of the booth, of course. We achieve that by specially treating acoustic felt panels, which are a very efficient sound absorber with NRC 0.95. (No chemical treatment) It is very easy to assemble. I can say that this is the easiest and most intuitive portable vocal booth to assemble; It is very portable, very lightweight and easy to carry. Which is an important feature of any portable booth. It can fit in a large (or even a medium) size suitcase. We have a video to show it. [LINK] It can be mounted on a mic stand. You would need to have a heavy-duty tripod; a lightweight mic stand might not be enough. (Although this feature, in the current version, still needs some improvement, it is doable.) It can be suspended from a closet bar (anything). It actually works with regular clothes hangers and S-hooks, paper clips or tie-ups. It allows teamwork. This is a feature that no other vocal booth designers did not even think of. But we thought that in some cases, voice actors need to have a group narration or movie dubbing with two actors needing to look at the same script or dialogue and work together. It has the largest interior working space. (Second only to FAV-24). Optimal space in the booth is very important. If the sound absorption material is positioned too close to the microphone, it might create a severe high-frequency depletion in the recording. FAV20 (and FAV24) are large enough to avoid that problem. The materials are safe. It is not foam that dries out and becomes brittle over time and cannot be cleaned. It does not dislodge any fibres, and there is no smell. It is washable. The interior fabric can be easily cleaned. (We do not recommend using washing machine, though, because it will make outer Nylon shell soft and not as glossy. It will still work, but will not look as good.) It can be personalised. If you want to put your logo or a favourite image on it – we can do that. It makes a great gift for your fellow voiceover actors. It’s a great gift for beginners as an affordable booth that can be used at home and for seasoned professional voice actors who have to travel away from their home studios and still be on schedule and on track with their work. Note: This version of FAV, FAV-20, DOES NOT include a dust bag. From what we heard, people did not use it anyway. The way it folds down, it is protected with durable nylon fabric from all sides.
